After posting several UGC videos on my Instagram, I realized that even though my videos have great content, they were not gaining as many views as I had hoped. That’s when I discovered storytelling.
One of my fellow content creators told me that creating and posting UGC content is not enough to get views, but it is also important to compile them in an engaging narrative as that is the content that engages and hooks most of the users.
Along with compiling videos, having a logical and engaging narrative behind the videos is also very important to grab the user’s attention. However, I decided to go with my fellow’s suggestion to create a compiled video.
Even though I had videos that were relatable and based on the same theme as the series, I documented getting admission into my dream university, but the only thing that was a setback was the backstory.
After spending days on getting ideas on generating a backstory, I discovered an online backstory generator tool that made my task pretty easier. The tool really helped in compiling my videos into a cohesive story.
In this article, I will tell you how you can do the same to create a powerful and engaging UGC video that will increase views and engagement.
How I Used the Backstory Generator to Enhance My UGC Videos
I decided to compile my videos into an engaging video. Below, I have shared how I did it and how you can do it, too.
1. Gather Your Videos
You need to start by selecting the UGC videos that share a common theme, experience, or journey. In my case, I gathered all the videos that I made on getting admission into my dream university. It included everything from getting inspiration to getting admission. However, if you have some videos that you want to add but they are irrelevant to the theme, you can still add them as a good story can help you tie that together too.
2. Use The Backstory Generator
As I mentioned earlier, I did not know what to add to the backstory of the video. This is where I took help from the Backstory Generator by Prepostseo. It helped me create a structured storyline based on my videos. I provided key details to the tool, such as the intent of videos and the content they have, and the tool efficiently generated the backstory that linked all the videos seamlessly. As a reference, I have added a screenshot of the tool’s working below.
As you can see in the attachment, the tool has efficiently generated the backstory for the compiled UGC video, which can be simply used as a narrative with some minor changes. It is not mandatory to exactly replicate the backstory in the narrative, you can make changes if you feel the tool has misinterpreted or has wrongly explained any part.
3. Follow The Structure of Storytelling
While using the backstory generated by the tool, I structured my video series as follows, You can follow any structure you find resonates better with your video content:
Hook: This is the introduction of your video, which draws the attention of users. I failed multiple times while making an engaging hook for my video, so do not worry if, at the start, you are unable to create one, as it is completely normal.
Main story: Once you are done with the introduction, the next step is to narrate the main story, in which you will mention your entire journey in a short or detailed manner based on your choice. In my case, I started the main story from where I got the inspiration, then shared my preparation and all that I did to prepare for the entry test and admission in my dream university.
Climax: This is where you present the most emotional or exciting moment to keep the readers engaged. In simple words, this is something for which the audience has been eagerly watching your video till it. In my case, it was like whether I got admission into my dream university or not.
Resolution: Once you have narrated all the backstory for your UGC video, the final step is to add a resolution and tell what happened in the end. You may also add a call to action; for example, you can say something like, share, and follow/subscribe for more videos like these. In my UGC videos, instead of narrating the CTA, I add it as a text in the video, but this is totally based on your choice.
4. Add Personal Touches
While narrating the story, you must keep in mind that people connect with real experiences as you would try to be extra fancy in your videos, which, if not similar to your other videos on your profile, there is a great chance that people might think that you are being fake with them.
In my videos, I always try to ensure that my videos remain genuine, and I share authentic information with the audience so that they can engage with my content. It also helps to enhance your credibility so that your audience can trust you with their decisions whether they are related to buying a product or enrolling in a degree.
5. Edit And Post the Compilation
Once you have compiled the video, review the video once to ensure that there are no mistakes in the backstory and that everything is narrated cohesively. Once you ensure the accuracy and quality of the video, you can post your UGC compilation on your profile so that your audience can interact and engage.
Conclusion
Creating UGC videos is not just about capturing moments; it’s about telling a story that relates to your audience. A tool like Prepostseo’s Backstory Generator can help you structure your content, making it more engaging and shareable.
Whether documenting personal experiences or promoting a brand, a well-written narrative can make all the difference.
